Helena Braet graduated in 2018 with a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences – Drug development at Ghent University, Belgium. The same year, she started a PhD at Ghent University at the Ghent Research Group on Nanomedicines, supervised by Prof. Katrien Remaut and Prof. Stefaan De Smedt. During her PhD, she developed a nanoparticle-loaded and sprayable hydrogel to treat peritoneal metastasis and to prevent peritoneal adhesions. In 2023, after a rewarding PhD trajectory which has led to a patent application, she joined the team of Prof. Koen Raemdonck as a postdoctoral researcher at the same research group to investigate polymer-based and lung-surfactant inspired nanocarriers for pulmonary mRNA delivery. Since 2024, Helena is active as a postdoctoral researcher in the Drug Formulation & Delivery Group of Prof. Jean-Christophe Leroux at ETH Zürich in Switzerland. Currently, she works on the in vivo application of the TFAMoplex, a protein-based DNA transfection agent.
