Matthew Sephton Sephton, Principal Consultant, Risktec

I am a Safety Consultant working mostly in the Clean Energy and Rail sectors, helping clients identify and manage hazards, choose the best design solutions within the relevant health and safety frameworks and to present the safety case for large projects.  I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Fellow of the IMechE. In Clean Energy I have completed safety analysis of BESS installations, from the perspective of the manufacturer as well as the owner/operator and have supported a number of BESS planning applications through the authoring of battery safety management plans. I have experience in wind turbine fire risk assessment and have supported projects involving hydrogen electrolysis, hydrogen dispensing and hydrogen fuel cells. In Rail, I have followed the CSM process for significant and non-significant projects, including telecoms product acceptance, rolling stock risk assessments, electrification and other infrastructure projects. My Rail expertise encompasses the use of various different techniques for hazard and risk identification and analysis including HAZID, FMECA, Bow-tie, FTA and Site specific risk assessment.
