Dominique Barker, CIO, Australian Institute of Family Studies

After converting from a career in Journalism at Fairfax in a previous life in Auckland, Dominique cut her teeth in web at a digital agency in Melbourne, where she was exposed to over 50 website and application projects in just 4 years – pre-empting a move into Information Technology in the University sector. It was here she worked in an innovation hub at Deakin, as part of a broader technical team, building revolutionary online platforms from the ground up. Since then, she has lead the operations and strategy of the online learning environments at RMIT during the pandemic, and now works as the Chief Information Officer at Melbourne-based Federal Government agency, The Australian Institute of Family Studies, where she is continuing her journey of IT leadership, transformation and delivery as a public servant.
