Lisa Dethridge, Research, RMIT University

Dethridge has decades of industry experience in strategic design of emerging tech, from telecoms and aerospace to game design and ethical AI systems.  She assisted the birth of the internet, researching with United Nations Development Program and Houston start-up Space Test.   She did time in Hollywood, producing film, TV and print with studios and networks including MTV, ETV, Fox and Vogue Magazine.  After teaching at the American Film Institute and UCLA, she immersed in virtual spaces and game design.  This tech media skillset naturally evolved toward AI systems that are ethical and human-centred.   Dethridge currently consults for Australian and American AI and tech companies, industry groups and non-profits and is a Research Fellow at RMIT University Melbourne.  She has a PhD in Media Ecology from New York University, a Masters in Political Science from Uni. of Melbourne and is author of numerous scholarly articles on AI in media and virtual worlds.
